Amanda Ryan, DO

Amanda Ryan, DO is an interventional cardiologist who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of atherosclerosis. She has a particular interest in women’s cardiovascular health. Dr. Ryan started her education at a private liberal arts college in Naperville, IL – North Central College graduating in 1998. She received her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree in 2003 at Kansas City University of Bio Medical Sciences in Kansas City, MO. Dr. Ryan then completed her internal medicine residency and served as chief medicine resident at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO. Her cardiology and interventional cardiology training were completed at Largo Medical Center through Nova Southeastern Medical School in Fort Lauderdale, FL in 2011.

Dr. Ryan is originally from central Illinois, having grown up in a small farming community. Her career goals have always included bringing top quality, cutting-edge cardiovascular care to people in rural America. Her grandfather had a weak heart after suffering his first heart attack at age 36 and she has always been determined to help patients just like her grandfather by bringing advanced cardiac care to their communities. Family has always been important to Dr. Ryan and she followed her beloved aunts and mother into the medical field. In her limited free time, she enjoys family life with her soulmate Imari Williams and her beautiful bonus children Neo and Imaya Williams who travel between Florida and New Mexico. Plans often include trips to visit or support extended family members in their soccer, football, softball or any other endeavor.

The opportunity to relocate to Carlsbad, New Mexico and build a cardiovascular program essentially from scratch presented itself about seven years ago. Dr Ryan, along with her hand selected team of medical professionals, has slowly built a well-respected, quality regional cardiology program. Her skill set includes cardiac and peripheral arterial and venous interventional procedures. Her plans include building a state-of-the-art outpatient cardiovascular surgical center here in Carlsbad while continuing to practice at Carlsbad Medical Center and Artesia General Hospital. She will continue to serve the entire SE New Mexico region and bring innovative, compassionate, value-based care to the area.

Jennifer Tupper DNP, APRN, FNP-BC

Jennifer Tupper is a Carlsbad, NM native. Continuing a family legacy in nursing, she obtained her BSN from New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, NM in 2010, followed by her Doctor of Nursing Practice – Family Nurse Practitioner degree in July 2019 graduating with honors. Go AGGIES! Jennifer’s first RN position was in an Intensive Care Unit. Her passion for nursing and providing excellence in care led her to continue her education. Her project focus was to create a nurse-led Sepsis recognition protocol to improve patient outcomes.

While attending graduate school – Jennifer worked full-time at New Mexico State University in Carlsbad helping to grow future nurses. “I love supporting the growth of future nurses and giving back to my community. Leaning on past experiences and embracing current practices, I see myself as a partner in my patients' cardiovascular healthcare. I especially enjoy the relationships and working with patients to help them as they establish their cardiovascular healthcare goals and needs.”

In her spare time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her family! Jennifer is married to Sam. Together, they have three children, Savannah, John, and Skylar. Her family is involved in many activities. Savannah is an avid Trap and Skeet competitor, as well as being involved in 4-H shooting sports. John is a soccer hooligan and loves to be outdoors.
